Welcome to Murdoch University Melville Football Club!
This page provides information for girls (both new and existing) aged 10 – 16.
Our girl’s teams are going from strength to strength as numbers grow. As a Club how do we further strengthen the foundations we have at MUM FC? There are fantastic opportunities for MUMFC girls, such as opportunities to play up a division, Skill Development Programmes, the Girls Academy, be mentored and buddy up with Women’s Players from State League and National Premier League squads and Represent various forms of football across and outside of the club and state.
Our commitment to the girls at MUMFC is to create opportunities, support your development and progress towards your dreams.
How Does It All Work?
Girls will nominate to play either “community" or “development” and teams will be selected during the trials which are held during the off season.
- The Girl’s Academy is one of MUMFC's building blocks towards the State League and National Premier League Women’s squads.
- Additional training opportunities on the new synthetic turf pitches at Murdoch within our Girls Academy squad (following acceptance into the programme) led by the Club Technical Director.
- MUM FC training gear and equipment for our Girl's Academy squad.
- Opportunity to be involved with one of the strongest girls clubs in Western Australia!
There is a strategic plan for our girl’s teams. Some key information on how it works follows:
The trials for all first division places are conducted in November and February led by the Club Technical Director and Coaches of the girls teams.
A link to submit an expression of interest becomes available on the MUM FC website at the time of trials - this is an invitation for you to register for trials and should be returned as soon as possible for you to participate.
Can anyone apply to trial?
Absolutely, please encourage your school friends, other sports friends, siblings to register and give it a go!
How do the trials work?
Assessments will be undertaken by the club's Technical Director and Club Coaches on either one or two nights depending on the number of players trialing.
What if I am successful in the trials?
You will be offered a position within a particular team according to your age and ability (as recommended by the Technical Director and Coaches). You may also be offered an opportunity to join the Girls Academy.
How can I get into the Girls Academy?
During the team trials in February, girls will be identified and provided with an opportunity to consider joining the elite squad.
What if I do not get into the Girls Academy?
The Club is committed to providing opportunities for all girls to play and will support players with an opportunity to play in the 'best fit' scenario for you and the club.
Will the Girls Academy impact on my normal team?
No, the Girls Academy is designed as a development opportunity with additional training sessions and you will play the season with the team that you have been identified to play in.
What if I just want to play with my mates?
Of course you can! The Community Teams are for exactly that! If joining MUMFC is about wanting to play with mates, we support that! New players, fostering mateship, confidence and development are what sport is all about. We will encourage that in any stream of football at MUMFC.
If I play in the Elite or Development Stream, can I play in the same team with my friends?
Places are offered in the Development Stream to players who are showing us that they are ready to play above a Community level. This may mean you may not be in the same team as your friends in the First Division and Academy squads, when you are ready to sign up. However you will make new friends and this will further strengthen your confidence, growth and our Club! Players can move between squads through the season as identified by Coaches and as players grow and develop.
When is registration?
Registration commences early January and we encourage all girls to register as soon as possible as places fill very quickly! If you have any registration questions please contact the Club Registrar or register here https://www.mumfc.com.au/
Who will coach my team?
All Coaches are selected leading into the Trials Periods and Preseason.
When does the season start and what other things do I need to know?
The first step in our Club Strategy is to undertake trials and team allocations. These happen between November and February. Come along to the preseason Small Sided Games in January and February and the Club Open Day in February and meet your team mates and Coaches. Keep an eye on the club home page and facebook page for more information on these events as we move towards the new season.
